How do we do this?

We do this by providing a Changing Lanes Retrenchment Rescue package.  

These packages consist of one-on-one counseling and career coaching sessions as well as CV writing and goal setting for the way forward.  Ideally, where possible, we may place people in new positions.

Whilst working with the Retrenchees, we will unpack and reason through feelings of negativity, helplessness and anger.  We will endeavour to restore ethical perceptions of the company.

Scenario B: The aftermath… reputational damage control

In this scenario, Changing Lanes Consultancy will focus on resettling your remaining workforce into a positive frame of mind.  We will refocus teams to enable them to positively move forward and achieve their goals in a cohesive manner.  

Research has shown that once the affected staff have exited, the remaining workforce who  have not been directly affected may still be left with a variety of negative, unsettling feelings and vulnerabilities for various reasons.  

It is found that people are often left feeling out of control, insecure and untrusting.  This happens as a result of them possibly taking on more responsibilities and potential role changes, as well as when transparent communication has not taken place effectively, as to how the company is moving forward.  

Other feelings include guilt, for retaining their jobs, or anger as people may have been emotionally connected to staff members who have been retrenched and feel that they are being disloyal.  Perceptions of being treated unfairly, real or perceived, may be growing and often spills over into the remaining staff creating a disharmonious and destructive working environment.

Reputational damage may occur when the retrenchment process has been concluded, however sensitively it was handled.
