Our client, a sportswear design and manufacturing company based in Cape Town, is looking for a meticulous and technically skilled Pattern Maker to join their innovative Development Lab team.

In this role, you’ll work closely with our Senior Pattern Maker & Development Lab Coordinator to create precise technical patterns, contribute to the fit and engineering process, and support the seamless transition from design to production. Location: Cape Town

ESSENTIAL:  1+ years’ experience in a similar pattern-making role with exposure to both manual and digital pattern-making tools.

ESSENTIAL:  Matric / Grade 12 with certifications in Clothing / Textiles and Pattern Making

ESSENTIAL:  Proficiency in pattern-making software (Optitex, Lectra, or Gerber)

ESSENTIAL:  Grading knowledge and understanding of garment construction

ESSENTIAL:  Proficient in G-Suite and/or Microsoft Office

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create technical patterns from design briefs that align with design intent and garment fit.
  • Make pattern adjustments as requested during fit meetings.
  • Generate accurate spec sheets, trim ratings, fit logs, and QC documentation.
  • Assist with grading and 3D pattern work using relevant software systems.
  • Capture detailed meeting notes during fit, engineering, and pre-production sessions.
  • Liaise with the factory and QC teams to resolve development queries.
  • Ensure all updates are reflected on the necessary internal systems.
  • Request trims, fabrics, and components needed for the Development Lab.
  • Support the Development Lab in achieving daily pattern production targets.
